As a grandfather, it’s important to me to have someone on the school board who will listen to our concerns. I have known Josh Guy since 2018, when he was a volunteer for several Republican campaigns. I was impressed with his knowledge and his work ethic. Around that same time, Josh was serving on the Youth Advisory Commission for St. Mary’s County. As chair of the education subcommittee, Josh worked to find ways to get more kids involved in the STEM program and he worked hard to find ways to make our schools safer. Josh Guy has articulated a solid platform that, I believe, will serve our county schools well. He will host meetings with our parent teacher associations. He understands the budget, and will work to save money. He will make sure we have qualified educators for our special needs students. He will ensure our security teams are well trained to protect our students from harm. A vote for Josh Guy, is a vote for someone who cares.

When deciding who should serve on the school board, it is important to consider several factors. Does this person care about our students, parents, and teachers? Does this person have experience? The most important question is: Does this person listen? I went to Chopticon High School with Josh Guy. He was always involved in our school in a positive way. He served as President of our class and as a student member of the Principal’s Advisory Commission. While in college, Josh returned to St. Mary’s County Public Schools as a substitute teacher. I’ve watched Josh campaign for school board. He is constantly talking with parents about the problems inside their child’s school. He listens to parents and wants to make sure their voice is heard. He talks with teachers about problems with school administration. He cares about St. Mary’s County Public Schools. But, most of all, he listens.
